Update on DK PILOT Anholt – June 24

The DK PILOT Anholt project, which focuses on sustainable marine growth and aquaculture, has reported significant progress. In the first year, the growth of Palmaria palmata reached 0.2 kg per meter, with fronds growing up to 15 cm in length. This growth is consistent with the conservative deployment design used for this species.

Similarly, the growth of Saccharina latissima in the first year also reached 0.2 kg per meter, though this was lower than expected. The fronds of Saccharina latissima grew up to 45 cm, as shown in the pictures below.

In addition to these observations, three types of mussel spat collectors were deployed in various configurations to optimize growth and sustainability.

Further updates will be provided as the project progresses. These findings highlight the ongoing efforts to enhance marine resource management and aquaculture practices.
