Offshore wind farms are currently being planned across various regions in Europe. As different industries seek to operate in the same spaces, the concept of multi-use becomes increasingly important.

Join this webinar to discover more about multi-use projects and pilot initiatives taking place throughout Europe. In this session, you’ll gain valuable insights and highlights from the following projects:

OLAMUR
(NO) Funded under The EU HORIZON Framework Programme, OLAMUR will contribute to the EU Mission Ocean by bringing together multi-use low-trophic aquaculture (MU-LTA) related key sectors, to demonstrate sustainable commercial solutions for both the North and the Baltic Sea. OLAMUR will establish three pilot demonstration sites where seaweed and blue mussels will be grown within windfarms or in the vicinity of a trout farm.

ULTFARMS
(NL) Project is a pioneering Horizon Europe Ocean Mission project that is set to transform the future of Low-Trophic Aquaculture (LTA) systems. Our project is designed to optimise production of LTA systems in harsh offshore conditions and low-salinity environments through the integration of innovative engineering, technical, ecological, and biological processes. ULTFARMS will generate a profitable, sustainable, and ecological production chain of low-trophic level species, such as seaweed and molluscs, in offshore wind farms located in the North Sea and Baltic Sea

MULTI-USE FOR MORE SEAFOOD
(SE) The project’s goal is to increase knowledge about multi-use between different production methods at sea and strengthen the value chains of seafood production on land. The project will serve as a neutral collaboration platform where different perspectives meet, with the aim of facilitating new innovations along the seafood value chain. By strengthening networks and relationships and promoting dialogue across regional boundaries, the project aims to build capacity for sustainable food production at sea in coexistence with other activities.

Aquaculture Europe 2025

Aquaculture Europe 2025 The Aquaculture Europe 2025 conference centers around the theme “Aquaculture for everyone,” emphasizing inclusivity and sustainability. It aims to align aquaculture development with environmental integrity, support primary sector regeneration, boost economic value chains, and foster lifelong learning across administrations and communities in Europe. ULTFARMS partners from Deltares, the FuE-Zentrum FH Kiel, and from Universiteit Gent will be attending with several of them presenting. Please feel free to get in touch and connect with them at the conference!

5th Baltic MSP Forum – Session 9: Effective Use of Space for a Sustainable Blue Economy

Session 9: Effective Use of Space for a Sustainable Blue Economy: Baltic Approaches to Multi-Use in Marine and Coastal Areas With growing spatial demands from offshore energy, marine nature protection, and maritime security sectors, clearly defined solutions to enable their co-existence through exclusive or multi-use option in sea space are needed. Cross-sectoral coordination – both at sea and along the coast – is fundamental; for example, ports and coastal communities may find new opportunities through integrated land-sea planning for multi-use.
