Anholt Pilot Update – June 2025

DTU Aqua Expands Offshore Multi-Use Activities at Anholt Wind Site

As part of ULTFARMS’ ongoing pilot activities, DTU Aqua recently completed a new series of offshore operations at the Anholt Wind site in the Kattegat. The research team carried out routine farm maintenance while also deploying additional production infrastructure to advance the site’s multi-use aquaculture testing.

During this latest phase, DTU Aqua successfully installed seeded sugar kelp lines and deployed mussel spat collectors. These installations mark the continued expansion of the farm, now entering its second growth season. Despite the exposed environmental conditions of the Kattegat, the farm has demonstrated strong resilience, maintaining stable performance throughout its operation.

In the coming months, DTU Aqua will continue monitoring the growth and development of both sugar kelp and mussels while ensuring the safe maintenance of the offshore installations. This long-term observation campaign will extend into 2026, providing valuable data to support the development of sustainable offshore multi-use solutions for low-trophic aquaculture.

These pilot operations represent a significant contribution to the overall ULTFARMS project, advancing knowledge on the technical and environmental performance of integrated aquaculture systems in offshore wind farm areas.
