Danish Samsø Pilot – Update Dec 2024

Promising Progress in Mussel Cultivation

The Samsø pilot, deployed in June 2024, recently underwent an inspection in September. The results showed successful mussel recruitment, with yields reaching up to 70 kg of fresh weight per square meter. However, the system faced setbacks due to high biomass and strong wind and wave forces, which caused damage to the infrastructure.

Despite these challenges, the findings provide valuable data for optimizing future operations and refining the technology for better resilience. The pilot team is now focused on addressing these issues and ensuring continued progress in sustainable aquaculture innovation.
