We’re proud that ULTFARMS and our work toward sustainable offshore aquaculture were recently featured in the ZEIT für X article, ‘Blue resources for a green future. The article is in German, but an English overview follows below.
Der Beitrag beleuchtet, wie Ozeane ein enormes Potential für Klima- und Umweltschutz bieten, sei es durch Algenkulturen, nachhaltige Aquakulturen oder neue Formen der Energiegewinnung. Neben führenden Forschenden wie Prof. Dr. Andreas Oschlies vom GEOMAR Helmholtz Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel und Prof. Dr. Niels Goseberg von der TU Braunschweig wurde auch Eva Strothotte von ULTFARMS interviewt.
Im Artikel wird unser Einsatz für eine nachhaltige Offshore-Entwicklung in der Nord- und Ostsee hervorgehoben. Als Teil eines EU-geförderten Projekts kombinieren wir Algen und Muschelsucht mit bestehenden Offshore-Windparks (ein Multi-Use-Konzept). So können Infrastruktur, Wartung und Energie gemeinsam genutzt werden, während wir gleichzeitig aktiv CO2 binden und Lebensräume für Meeresorganismen schaffen.
Besonders stolz sind wir auf den Einsatz recycelbarer Materialien, Umweltsensoren und „nature-inclusive“ Designs, die nicht nur wirtschaftlich, sondern auch ökologisch sinnvoll sind. Wir sind stolz, dass unsere Arbeit im ZEIT-Artikel hervorgehoben wurde und danken der Redaktion herzlich für das Interesse. Solche Berichte zeigen, dass die Vision einer blauen, nachhaltigen Zukunft Schritt für Schritt Realität wird. 🌍
